Sherie Sloane | Paint by Yoga | Canvas Painting with Yoga |
Concept and Yoga:
Painted Yoga® in Facebook:
PaintedYoga founder and Chicago artist Sherie Sloane does yoga on painted canvas.
I'm a painter and martial artist who has been doing yoga for eight years. Merging my passions for both art and yoga, I started PaintedYoga to inspire creativity and encourage others to express and rediscover themselves through art and the practice of yoga. One of a kind canvas paintings are created using the body and the practice of yoga as art media.
These are highlights of the actual thirty-minute yoga sequence done for this video, doing each pose on both sides and countering it for balance. Please exercise caution when practicing yoga on painted surfaces. The slippery surface from paints and other wet medium must be taken into careful consideration when doing the asanas/ postures. With that in mind, I modified some of the advanced poses originally intended. If you're a beginner in yoga, please have an experienced teacher or yogi to guide or assist you.
COLORS used in the Diptych Painting represent the Seven CHAKRAS in our Subtle Body:
1 - Red (root)
2 - Orange (sacral)
3 - Yellow (naval)
4 - Green (heart)
5 - Sky Blue (throat)
6 - Dark Blue (eye)
7 - Purple (crown)
On July 8, 2013, I did the first live Paint by Yoga demonstration with four other yogis from Reflections Yoga Center during the annual Homewood Arts Fest. Currently, I teach Paint by Yoga Workshops in different studios.

Thank you for watching! Remember, there's always an artist inside of us. Art and Yoga don't have to be perfect, that's why it's called a 'practice'. Namaste ॐ.
